PCS4 AMERICAS - QUALIFIER DETAILS

We know you are all hyped for the ESL PUBG Masters Americas: Phase 1, but we wanted to keep the action moving, so PUBG Americas Esports is about to kick off registration for the PUBG Continental Series 4 Americas Open Qualifiers, starting on May 5th! Take a look below for more information on the structure of the event and how to sign up!

NA and LATAM will have their own qualifier and Group Stage and then be coming together to compete as the combined Americas region during the Last Chance Qualifier and Grand Final. This announcement covers the NA qualifier, however, if you're interested in information around the LATAM qualifiers, please find the Spanish article here or the Portuguese article here for more information about your sub-region.

Open Qualifiers

Open Qualifiers will begin on May 5th, with each of the three rounds consisting of 2 days with 6 matches each day, for a total of 12 matches per round. The top teams from each lobby, using the Point Rule scoring system found in SUPER, move onto the next round. The exact lobby composition will depend on the amount of sign-ups so make sure you check the GLL tournament page for the exact number of teams moving forward each round. The top 8 teams from the Round of 16 (Ro16) will move onto the PCS4 NA Group Stage, where they will compete against the top 16 teams invited directly from the ESL PUBG Masters: Phase 1 NA Group Stage for a spot in the PCS4 Americas Grand Final.

Rules to Note:

Sign-ups for teams close on Monday, May 3rd at 11:59pm PT. Check in for all teams will open two hours prior to the first game and close one hour prior to the first game. Teams that fail to check in will be disqualified.

We have updated roster rules from our 2020 ruleset. For more information, please review section 12 of the rulebook.

All players must be 18 years of age or older on or before May 5th, 2021. A minimum of two players on the main roster must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the US or Canada in order for the team to be eligible to participate. Please note that Permanent Residency is a legal term. All teams are required to abide by SUPER in addition to the event rulebook.

Group Stage

As previously mentioned, NA and LATAM will have separate Group Stages. The PCS4 NA Group Stage will begin on May 14th, consisting of 6 match days. The top 16 teams from the ESL PUBG Masters: Phase 1 NA Group Stage will be joined by 8 teams that qualified through the NA Open Qualifier. Teams will be placed into groups of 8 (Groups A, B, and C) and each group will play 4 out of the 6 days. Seedings from these groups will be a snake draft determined by the ESL PUBG Masters: Phase 1 NA Group Stage placements followed by the top 8 teams from the NA Open Qualifier by placement. Group Stage will be a Best of 30 (Bo30) over six days where the top 6 teams advance to the PCS4 Americas Grand Final. The next best 8 teams will advance to the PCS4 Americas Last Chance Qualifier, and the bottom 10 teams will be eliminated. At the end of the stage, the top 16 teams from the PCS4 NA Group Stage will qualify for a direct invite to the ESL PUBG Masters: Phase 2 NA Group Stage. Teams will also be fighting for their share of $25,000 in NA Group Stage prize money.

Rules to Note:

The roster submission deadline for teams that were directly invited into the PCS4 NA Group Stage is on Monday, May 3rd at 11:59pm PT. The roster submission deadline for teams that qualified into the PCS4 NA Group Stage is on Wednesday, May 12th at 11:59pm PT. We have updated roster rules from our 2020 ruleset, which are significant and affect the use of a substitute and/or 5th player. For more information, please review section 12 of the rulebook.

Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ)

The PCS4 Americas Last Chance Qualifier will begin on May 22nd consisting of 2 days with 6 matches per day, for a total of 12 matches. The 7th-14th place teams from the PCS4 NA Group Stage will be joined by the 7th-14th place teams from the PCS4 LATAM Group Stage. The top 4 teams from the PCS4 Americas Last Chance Qualifier will move onto the PCS4 Americas Grand Final, joining the top 6 from each sub-regional PCS4 Americas Group Stage. Teams will also be competing for $20,000 in LCQ prize money. 

Grand Final

Coming out of the sub-regional Group Stages, the top 6 teams from North America will join the top 6 teams from Latin America and the top 4 teams from the Last Chance Qualifier in the PCS4 Americas Grand Final. The Grand Final takes place over 6 days across three weeks, June 10th - 11th, June 17th - 18th and June 24th - 25th. . 

Please note that changes to the substitute player may be allowed between the Group Stage and the Grand Final. For potential changes to the 5th (substitute) player, please refer to the rulebook as the ruleset for substitute players has changed significantly from the 2020 ruleset.

Prize Pool & PGC Points

In addition to a $250,000 prize pool, the PCS4 Americas Grand Final will also be awarding PGC Qualification Points to the top 16 teams. More information on the PGC Points distribution and details can be found here.
