BATTLEGROUND INTELLIGENCE – USA

Coverage

by PUBG Esports

Soniqs’ Hunter “hwinn” Winn and Tristan “Shrimzy” Nowicki will lead the charge in Bangkok at the second PUBG Nations Cup on behalf of Team USA. The two PUBG Continental Series 6 Americas champions will be joined by two other American powerhouses in Bing Bang Boom’s Daniel “Sharpshot” Hernandez and eUnited’s Matt “Kickstart” Smith.

“Honestly a dream come true,” Shrimzy said in a Tweet once Team USA’s roster was announced. “[I] can’t wait to represent the US in Thailand.”

This team had some wild stats through the PCS6 Americas Grand Final. Snapshot landed 53 kills with 9,200 damage in a 6th place finish. Kickstart had 50 kills with over 10,000 damage in a 4th place finish. The Soniqs duo? A combined 78 kills and over 15,000 damage to help bring the first place trophy home.

We don’t have a balanced team with one gunner here – we’ve got four gunners who know how to strategize, rotate and support one another on the battlefield.

2019’s Team USA, which was made up of a completely different set of players, disappointingly finished 10th place in Seoul. This team has a good chance to blow that result out of the water in Bangkok.

Shrimzy and hwinn alone have an incredibly impressive resume when competing against the best the Americas have to offer. Soniqs finished first in PCS6, PCS4, the PUBG Global Invitational.S, PCS3 and PCS2. PCS5 and PCS1? Second and third. Their team is unmatched on two continents and could be made stronger by two all star additions.

Can you guess who won PCS5? That’s right. Kickstart. That’s not the end of it, either. Sharpshot played with hwinn and Shrimzy during the PUBG Global Invitational.S in 2021. This team has all the right pieces to fly through the competition in Thailand.

While we have seen most of this squad face off against talent from other regions, a lot has changed since the PUBG Global Invitational.S last year. We could see surprises that upset Team USA from teams like Finland or Thailand. That’s the biggest variable headed into the PUBG Nations Cup, but it could be nothing more than a speed bump for this hot rod squad.

We have high expectations for Team USA and nothing short of a Top 3 finish will satisfy the thousands of fans that’ll be rooting for Shrimzy and company once they bring the red, white and blue to the True Icon Hall Iconsiam.
