PGC 2021: Team Liquid Secures a Grand Final Spot!

Team Liquid is the winner of the second Weekly Final in the PUBG Global Championship (PGC) 2021, being held in Incheon, South Korea. The European team won the weekly prize of $30,000 and qualified directly for the Grand Final, joining the Latin American KPI Gaming, the first Weekly Final winner.  .

As in the initial week, this Weekly Final featured ten matches, played on Saturday and Sunday, on maps Eragel and Miramar. Among the 16 participating teams, winners of the Weekly Survival matches, two were from the Americas: Spacestation Gaming and Dignitas.

Once the ten matches were concluded, Team Liquid was on top with 81 points, 50 of which were for kills – the same marks as the South Korean GNL Esports. But the Europeans were ahead of the South Koreans by tiebreaker criteria #2 with having the better top placement throughout the matches. With 74 points, Russian Virtus.pro got 3rd place.

The Americas representatives, Spacestation Gaming got the 6th place and Dignitas, the 15th.

With the second Weekly Final win, Team Liquid has qualified for the Grand Final, which will be held from December 17-19, with 16 teams attending. Team Liquid will still compete in the last week of the Weekly Survival, and can go back to the Weekly Final to increase their prize money, but the team is already guaranteed in the decisive phase of the competition.

In addition to the winners of the three Weekly Finals, the Grand Final will feature teams qualified through the points ranking and the Grand Survival, on December 16th.

Next phases

The 16 teams qualified for the second Weekly Final will kick off the third Weekly Survival and, as soon as the winners of each game are defined, they will make room for the teams that will participate in the Bottom 16 Rank Decision this Monday.
